The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) wishes to advise that blasting work and extended 1 hour traffic delays for blasting at the Nevis Bluff on SH 6 about midway between Cromwell and Queenstown are complete.
Other works, including scaling and rock bolt stabilisation work, will continue through until Thursday 9 April 2009.
Due to the difficulty and unpredictable nature of the rock stabilisation work, traffic delays are required while work is carried out on the unstable rock face immediately above the highway for the safety of the travelling public.
Work will continue between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday with openings for traffic on the hour every hour during these times. Between the regular hourly openings there will be traffic delays of up to 20 minutes.
The NZTA regrets any inconvenience to road users and appreciates their patience while this essential safety work is carried out.
The NZTA will provide regular updates on this work. Information on this project will also be available on the NZTA’s Highway Info website at www.highwayinfo.govt.nz(external link).
