The NZ Transport Agency is advising that Ballance Valley Road and Ballance Gorge Road between State Highway 3 and Pahīatua-Mangahao Road will be closed for two days this month.
The roads will be closed between 8.30am and 2.30pm on Wednesday 14 August and Thursday 15 August for a full inspection of the roads.
The Transport Agency is now responsible for the day to day maintenance of the road on behalf of Tararua District Council and this inspection will help the Transport Agency develop a plan of works.
Affected residents have been advised that access to all local properties will be allowed throughout these works, which will be managed by the contractors.
Motorists should observe posted detour routes and, if possible, avoid this section of Ballance during the closure.
If the weather is bad on these dates, the work will begin on the next fine day.
