The NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 1 at Penrose is currently closed to all traffic southbound due to a truck and trailer hitting the Penrose overbridge.
The truck’s trailer has flipped and is blocking all southbound lanes.
Police and engineers are at the scene.
Traffic is congested in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
