The NZ Transport Agency is advising that asphalt surfacing works are planned for State Highway 3, Devon Road, between Bridle Street and the Waiwhakaiho bridge, starting Sunday 7 May.
The works involve digging up the top layer of existing road and replacing it with asphalt.
This will be done at night to reduce the impact on those who use this part of the highway.
It’s expected the roadworks will take seven nights to complete, depending on the weather.
During this time the highway will operate with a single lane, from 6pm to 6am, with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h through the work site.
There may also be brief times in which there is stop/go traffic control.
Electronic signage will notify motorists in the area of the work being done and nearby homeowners and businesses have been informed.
