The NZ Transport Agency says speed restrictions and traffic management will be in place on roads around the Waikato this week, as work continues on three sections of the Waikato Expressway and other projects.
People travelling around the region are advised to expect short delays and allow extra time to get to their destination.
Sites where delays are possible are detailed below to allow people to plan ahead when travelling.
Waikato Expressway Huntly section:
Northern interchange work is under way, between Fisher Road and the Ohinewai interchange.
The existing north-bound lanes are being widened so all traffic can be moved to one side. This will create room for the construction of the new south-bound off-ramp.
A 70km/h speed limit is in place and motorists are advised to expect minor delays.
Waikato Expressway Rangiriri section:
A 70km/h speed restriction is in place as work continues on this section of the expressway. Motorists are urged to drive with extra care and expect minor delays.
Waikato Expressway Cambridge section:
An 80km/h speed restriction remains in place across this section of the expressway, with lower speed restrictions in place at the three interchanges.
Motorists should allow extra time when travelling on this route.
SH1/SH26 Hillcrest roundabout:
People are advised to drive with extra care and attention and expect minor delays at off-peak times while work continues on the roundabout upgrade.
The road may be reduced to one lane between 9am and 2.30pm and under stop-go traffic management at night from 7pm to 6am (excluding Friday and Saturday nights).
SH31 Kawhia Road: A short section of the road is down to single lane and under stop/go traffic management while a roadside slip is repaired. Expect short delays.
The Transport Agency apologies for any inconvenience caused and thanks motorists for their patience during the works.
