The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists to allow extra time when travelling on State Highway 1 through the Waikato as work on the Waikato Expressway continues.
Stop/ go traffic management, speed restrictions and road layout changes will be in place in some areas and short delays are possible.
Contractors are starting work on the connections to the Rangiriri Interchange next week and will be raising the road level of Glen Murray Road.
From Tuesday, June 9 to Friday June 12, traffic coming over the Glen Murray Bridge towards SH1 will be diverted down Churchill East Road and use Plantation Road to re-join SH1.
Contractors are working between 9am and 4pm (weather dependent) to avoid peak traffic hours. Traffic travelling off SH1 towards Glen Murray will still be able to use the intersection. A 30km/h speed restriction will be in place.
Stop/ go traffic management will be in place on the Cambridge section from 7pm on Monday June 8 until the following morning to allow contractors to pour concrete on the Victoria Road Bridge.
A speed restriction of 30km/h will be in place and traffic will be diverted around the future northern ramps.
Stop/ go traffic management will also be in place on SH1 between Cambridge and Tamahere from 9am to 4pm on June 8 and 9 (weather depending) to allow trucks to move topsoil.
Other road work sites where delays are possible are detailed below to allow motorists to plan ahead when travelling:
SH2, Karangahake Reserve
Traffic management and a 30km/h speed restriction will be in place east of the Karangahake Reserve until mid-June. Contractors are widening the roadway and improving the drainage during daylight hours from Monday to Friday. Motorists are advised to expect short delays when travelling on this route.
SH3/37, Waitomo turnoff roundabout construction
Sealing, marking and minor finishing will be complete this coming week.
SH23, on the Raglan Deviation
Stop/go traffic management will be in place at times until mid-June to allow contractors to install a new culvert. Work hours 7am-5pm. Motorists are advised to expect minor delays.
