NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is urging drivers travelling on State Highway 5 Napier-Taupō Road to be extra cautious tomorrow with heavy snow warnings in the area.
Metservice is forecasting snow to fall on SH5 above 700 metres.
Currently the warning is in place between 2pm and 9pm tomorrow (Tuesday).
Roading contractors will be on the road to ensure they’re able to respond quickly to any potential issues.
Meanwhile, a heavy snow watch is in force for the Taihape area from 10am til 6pm tomorrow.
NZTA is reminding all road users to avoid travel if you can, take extreme care on the road and drive to conditions. Please also expect short-notice closures should conditions worsen and keep an eye on the NZTA Facebook pages and Journey Planner for any changes.
