The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is advising motorists that 10 Mile Bridge on SH6 will be closed from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 3pm this Wednesday (May 2) to allow for the resurfacing of the bridge deck.
NZTA’s Senior Asset Manager for the West Coast Mark Pinner says the closures are necessary for the resurfacing work to be undertaken to keep the bridge up to standard.
Mr Pinner said the agency thanked motorists for their patience and apologises for any inconvenience the temporary closures will cause.
An alternative route is available during the closures, from Greymouth via SH7 to Reefton, SH69 to Inangahua Junction and SH6 Lower Buller Gorge to Westport. Drivers should allow one hour additional travel time if planning on using the alternate route.
In the event of poor weather the work will be carried out on the next fine day. Mr Pinner said any changes to the planned closures would be advertised on local radio stations Coast FM and Scenicland Radio.
