What does fraud look like?

Fraud is generally used to describe behaviour deliberately misleading us to gain an advantage. This includes theft, misuse of money or resources, the supply of false information or any other form of dishonesty.

Examples of fraudulent behaviour include:

  • suppliers sending NZTA false invoices for services they didn’t provide
  • people obtaining unauthorised access to or misusing NZTA money or assets
  • people inappropriately accessing or misusing NZTA information
  • service providers deliberately misleading NZTA for their own benefit
  • NZTA staff using their role to carry out dishonest or fraudulent activities.

You should report potential scams using the ‘Report a phishing scam form’. If you’re a current or former employee of NZTA, and you’re concerned about potential serious wrongdoing you’ve seen while working at NZTA, you can make a protected disclosure.
