Apply for a higher mass and overlength permit for high productivity motor vehicles if you’re carrying a divisible load, or if your vehicle's mass goes over the mass and length limits.

New permit portal

Permit applications will be split across two portals for a short time.

You can apply for higher mass and overlength permits in the new portal now.

You can still apply for overweight permits on our existing permit portal.

Overweight permits and applications for people who don’t hold a Transport Service Licence will be available in the new portal from November.

Using the new permit portal

You can now log in to the new permit portal and create your operator account. Operator accounts should be held by the person who'll have oversight of all permitting in your organisation. These accounts will have full permissions in the system to add users, manage permits and save TSL details.

A vehicle doesn't have to be in your library to apply for a permit, but it'll make the application process faster.

You'll need a RealMe login

You'll need to log in to the new permit portal using a RealMe login.

It doesn't need to be a verified RealMe login.

All government agencies must implement identity verification services on digital platforms to meet security requirements. It’s a government requirement for agencies to use RealMe rather than develop our own authentication and identity verification systems.

If you don't already have one, it's easy to set up a non-verified RealMe login online.

  1. Visit the RealMe website
  2. Choose Login
  3. Look for the Create a RealMe login option.

Go to the RealMe log in for the Heavy vehicle permit portal(external link)

The first time you log in, you’ll be asked for your name and email address. You'll need to verify your email address and phone number using the Send code button. Then you'll go the new portal dashboard.

Viewing information in the old portal

You can view active permits and vehicle information in the old portal until the system has fully transitioned.

Up to 1 Feb 2025 you'll have read only access to information in the old portal.

Download all your issued permits and copy the vehicle library details you need before this date.
