Request traffic camera footage

We use traffic cameras to collect footage of state highways. The camera technology we use is called closed-circuit television (CCTV).

Why we use traffic cameras

Under the Official Information Act (OIA) you can request our traffic camera footage of state highways.

While we do our best to assist with requests, depending on the system and camera location, footage may only be held for anywhere between 24 hours and several days.

Due to the quality of the cameras, distance from the road and direction the camera is facing, some footage may still not be fit for purpose as the cameras are not designed to identify individual vehicles or people.

Describe the vehicles involved

Plate numbers aren't clear in CCTV footage. To help us identify the vehicles, please provide a general description.

If you can, please include:

• vehicle type (for example, hatchback or ute)
• make
• model
• colour
• other clear features (like a roof rack).
