SH6 Lowburn proposed new no stopping areas

Submissions for this consultation have now closed.

To make a 1300 metre section of the above highway safer for everyone, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is proposing stopping/parking restrictions on both sides of SH6 at Lowburn.

The dashed yellow line on the map shows the areas and extent of the proposed changes.

This proposal is to manage the impacts of the Kiwi Water Park on Lake Dunstan in the Lowburn area, the demand it has created for roadside parking, and to reduce the risk to people from parking on a high speed (100km/h) rural highway. Safe off-road parking is now provided for both Kiwi Water Park visitors and Lake Dunstan recreational users on LINZ land.

Once we’ve considered your feedback on this proposal, Waka Kotahi plans to set a bylaw in accordance with the Land Transport Management Act 1998 by amending the NZTA Traffic Controls on State Highways Bylaws 2017.
