The National Incident and Event Management System (NIEMS) is a web application used by our Transport Operations Centre staff. It is a central place for handling transport related incidents.

To help our staff make decisions about incidents and respond to them as soon as possible. We only use your information for this purpose and without it we may not be able to follow up on transport incidents reported through our 0800 4 HIGHWAYS hotline. This keeps our roads safe for everyone.

We use third-party providers to store and process information collected by NIEMS. We store some information in Google cloud servers in Australia. This means that information we hold about you may be transferred to, or accessed from, outside New Zealand.
Google uses third parties to provide some of their cloud services. These parties must meet our privacy and security requirements as well.
We only keep your information for as long as we need it and only for the purposes we collected it for, or as required by law. After this time it is securely destroyed.
If we request deletion of any information from Google, they will comply with our request as soon as reasonably practical and within a maximum 180 days.
