A new link road at Kenepuru connects Porirua, Kenepuru, and Tawa with Te Aranui o Te Rangihaeata - the Transmission Gully motorway.

This interchange has both north and southbound on-ramps to the Transmission Gully Motorway, but only a southbound off-ramp.

How to use the Kenepuru Interchange

Southbound from the Transmission Gully motorway (from the north including Kāpiti or SH58)

Southbound motorists from the Transmission Gully motorway can take the off-ramp at the Kenepuru Interchange to connect with Kenepuru Drive and access Porirua, Kenepuru, Linden or Tawa.

  1. Exit left off the Transmission Gully motorway, take the second exit off the Kenepuru Interchange roundabout, head west to connect with the Kenepuru Drive roundabout.
  2. At the Kenepuru Drive roundabout, take the first exit to head towards Kenepuru, Linden and Tawa.
  3. At the Kenepuru Drive roundabout, take the second exit to connect with Porirua.

Note: It is possible to access Kenepuru Community Hospital via this interchange if you’re travelling south.

Northbound from Kenepuru Drive (from Kenepuru, Linden and Tawa)

Northbound motorists have two choices when they reach the new Kenepuru Drive roundabout.

  1. Take the first exit to stay on Kenepuru Drive and travel towards Porirua and Titahi Bay.
  2. Take the second exit to connect with the Transmission Gully motorway via either the northbound on-ramp towards Kāpiti, Waitangirua/Whitby and SH58 or the southbound on-ramp towards Wellington.

Southbound from Kenepuru Drive (from Porirua)

Southbound motorists have two choices when they reach the new Kenepuru Drive roundabout.

  1. Take the first exit to connect with the Transmission Gully motorway to the north or south.
  2. Take the second exit to continue south on Kenepuru Drive towards Kenepuru, Linden and Tawa.

Northbound from Wellington (to Porirua)

There is no exit for northbound motorists at the Kenepuru Interchange. Motorists travelling northbound from Wellington to Porirua should continue to use SH59 and the off-ramp at Mungavin Avenue.
