Construction has paused on the Transmission Gully motorway following the Government’s COVID-19 requirement for non-essential businesses to cease operation during New Zealand’s lockdown.

This means that only essential site maintenance activities to protect the site, maintain public safety and site security, and to inspect and repair environmental controls (to minimise any adverse environmental effects) are being undertaken for the duration of the lockdown period.

You can expect to see a limited number of authorised personnel on site undertaking these activities. All such personnel are required to adhere to the safety protocols that minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

We remind the public that Transmission Gully remains a construction site and that in the interests of personal safety, no unauthorised people should be entering the site area under any circumstances.
