Please plan ahead for directional lane closures on State Highway 58 from 8am to 8pm on Sunday 30 July for final surfacing works.

These directional lane closures will only affect SH58 between the Pāuatahanui roundabout and SH58/Transmission Gully interchange. The rest of SH58 will continue to operate as normal.

  • Westbound lane will be closed on Sunday 30 July from 8am.
  • Eastbound lane will be closed in the afternoon once the westbound lane has re-opened.

We are working hard get this section of highway completed with minimal impact on motorists but acknowledge this work may cause some disruption. It is necessary for this work to take place during the day, due temperatures at night being too cold for laying asphalt.

Work is dependent on various factors and could be postponed at short notice. Postponement dates are Sunday 6 or 13 August.

All updates will be communicated on the Waka Kotahi Facebook and Twitter accounts:

Please factor additional travel time into your journeys and plan ahead using Journey Planner.

Additional works

Leading up to the directional lane closures on Sunday 30 July, there will be work happening from Sunday to Thursday from 8pm to 5am on SH58, on both sides of the Transmission Gully interchange. Please expect traffic management and temporary speed limits to be in place during this time.

Further nightworks including stop/go lane closures will be needed to complete final surfacing on SH58 (Bradey Road side of the Transmission Gully interchange). This will be scheduled once night temperatures become warm enough to lay asphalt.
