WC 446: Sea freight infrastructure

Introduction

Work category 446 provides for the capital cost of new or improved facilities and infrastructure to improve the performance of domestic sea freight services.

Qualifying activities

Work category 446 is available to the following activity class:

• Coastal shipping.

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying infrastructure activities include, but may not be limited to:

• new or enhanced inter-modal links
• new or enhanced maritime infrastructure.

Exclusions

Work category 446 excludes:

• infrastructure whose primary purpose is to improve international shipping performance
• the operational cost of a coastal shipping service and the operational cost of its supporting infrastructure – where eligible these are funded under work category 442.

Funding assistance rates

The usual funding assistance rate (FAR) is:

• 100% of the Waka Kotahi agreed share of the total costs of an approved activity.

Submitting activities for NLTP consideration and funding approval

Waka Kotahi (for its own activities) submits these activities using the improvements module in Transport Investment Online (TIO).
