Road safety promotion activity class

Introduction

This section provides information, processes and procedures to assist Approved Organisations (AOs) and the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) in developing road safety promotion activities in line with the Safer Journeys The government's strategy to guide improvements in road safety over the period 2010–2020. http://www.transport.govt.nz/saferjourneys/Pages/default.aspx strategy.

This activity class promotes the safe use of the land transport network through education, advertising, raising awareness and public information activities.

Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. funding

Funding for road safety promotion activities is approved as a single allocation covering the programme of activities.  A breakdown of the amount requested and its contribution to strategic fit must be entered into Transport Investment Online and updated as variations are agreed with the NZTA.

Procurement The purchase of works, goods or services.

Outsourced road safety promotion activities must be procured using an NZTA approved procurement procedure A procurement procedure approved under section 25 of the LTMA. as described in the Approved Organisation’s or the NZTA’s endorsed procurement strategy A document required by the NZTA that sets out each approved organisation's strategy for procuring services and infrastructure using funds from the National Land Transport Fund. .  The NZTA’s approved procurement procedures for these activities are contained in the NZTA’s Procurement Manual or Road Safety Promotion Procurement The purchase of works, goods or services. Procedures.

If an Approved Organisation or the NZTA uses in-house staff resources to provide professional services Technical inputs to an activity undertaken by persons skilled in fields relevant to that activity. for the delivery of road safety promotion activities, the total expenditure to be reflected in the funding assistance claim will be equal to the salary costs plus overhead[1]. 

Approved Organisations and the NZTA are required to document how the amount of funding assistance claimed has been determined.
