Work category 811: Sector Research

 

Introduction
This page relates to the 2012-15 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied only.

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
provides for the NZTA’s research programme.

 

The NZTA manages this programme and purchases research from external researchers.

 

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include:

  • industry-generated research (proposals developed by researchers)
  • directed research (proposals requested by the NZTA)
  • management of the research programme.
The NZTA Research Programme Framework provides clear research objectives and helps to focus the approach to research investment, hence define the activities required to achieve the objectives.

 

Exclusions

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
excludes research to support the NZTA’s activities. This is funded under work category 911: management of the funding allocation system.
