All journeys require secure parking at each end. Most people will not cycle if they cannot secure their bicycle at their destination or public transport terminal (or take the bike with them on public transport). A wide variety of cycle parking options are available, and are used by a growing range of devices, from e-scooters to cargo bikes.

Cycle parking planning and design guidance summarises best practice provision of parking for people who cycle or scoot. It includes recommended cycle stand types, layout and design of cycle parking facilities, high capacity or secure parking solutions, and specific scooter parking. An appendix presents model district plan rules to help councils set development requirements for cycle parking.
