Beginning on Sunday 11 May 2025, WTA will be rebuilding SH2 (High Street South) in Carterton between just south of Dalefield Road and Hilton Road. These works will take up to two weeks to complete.

Works will be completed during the day and night (Sunday nights to Friday afternoons) and a 24/7 southbound detour via Moreton Road, Para Road, and Waihakeke Road will be in place. We encourage people to plan additional time for their journeys to account for this detour. Northbound traffic will be able to travel on SH2 through south Carterton at a reduced speed and an altered lane layout.

Beginning on Sunday 27 April, WTA will be completing some necessary drainage works. These drainage works will help ensure the road rebuild will last as long as possible. These works will be completed at night for up to two weeks.

Impacts to properties within the work area

We are completing the works one section at a time as shown in the map below. This helps to minimise disruption overall. Residents within the works areas will lose vehicle access to their properties for up to five days when we are working in your section.

We highly encourage you to contact customer@wta.nzta.govt.nz so we can inform you further about these roadworks.
