From the State Highway 1 Tīrau to Waiouru team, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the communities, businesses, freight, local councils, iwi and road users impacted by our works on SH1 this season. The work we have delivered in the region represents the largest maintenance and road rebuilding programme NZTA has completed in one season. The amount of work and intensity of work on this project could not have been done under traditional stop/go traffic management within this time period and we accomplished years of work in one construction season. Thank you all for your patience while we have completed this record-breaking season.
We will be back after winter to complete the final surface in areas we worked on this year. We will also be continuing road maintenance and rebuilding between Taupō and Tūrangi and in the Tīrau and Tokoroa townships. Our team is still working on the programme for next season and will be coming to speak to freight, businesses and all our communities when we have the programme.
