November 2023 - Drilling pads constructed on State Highway 1 at the Picton Elevation in in preparation for the excavator to directionally drill drainage pipes back under the highway.
December 2023 - Installing the directionally drilled drainage pipes under the highway at the Picton Elevation to help divert water from under the highway’s surface.
April 2024 - Following the installation of drains and culverts, the old pavement was removed in preparation for a new surface.
May 2024 - Preparing the southbound lane on State Highway 1 at the Picton Elevation for resurfacing.
May 2024 - Contractors mill the surface of the highway and prepare the site for resurfacing. This work was carried out over four-night shifts to minimise disruption.
June 2024 - Contractors asphalting the northbound, slow vehicle lane on State Highway 1 at the Picton Elevation.
June 2024 - Rolling the newly laid asphalt in one of the two southbound lanes on State Highway 1 at the Picton Elevation.
June 2024 - All three lanes asphalted, line marked and reopened. A temporary speed limit of 70km/h will remain in place until contractors can return to the site to chipseal the Picton Elevation when the weather is warmer.
