Work to complete a temporary Bailey bridge across the Hikuwai River on SH35 is now complete, replacing the bridge that was destroyed during Cyclone Gabrielle.
It is a key milestone in the recovery programme - completion of this 85-metre-long bridge means all state highways in Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti have now reopened following the widespread damage caused by the cyclone.
