Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency maintains a register of network standards and guidelines that are governed under its Register process manual.
Networks must be planned, constructed, operated and maintained in accordance with the technical documents in the Waka Kotahi Register of network standards and guidelines and Register Process Manual.
Any requests for departure from this policy must be directed in writing to Waka Kotahi National Investment Manager. It is Waka Kotahi policy that funding will be provided only to that portion of a network that complies with the register and the Process manual.
Maintenance and renewal of existing over-width carriageways will be eligible for funding assistance where this has been demonstrated to be the most cost-effective option. This applies, in particular, to the following work categories:
