 This is the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) policy on off-street parking areas.

Date of issue: Updated September 2023 | NZTA may review and amend investment policies at any time, including in response to any changes in the Government Policy Statement on land transport.

To describe the policy regarding funding assistance for off-street parking areas.

Construction, maintenance or renewal of off-street parking areas is not eligible for funding assistance from the National Land Transport Fund.

Exceptions

This policy does not apply to designated areas, on or off-street, where they are an integral part of a park-and-ride service network, or cycle parking at a public transport facility.

Funding assistance for these eligible activities is provided under appropriate work categories.
