Work category 554 provides for new technology solutions to improve the performance of bus, ferry and rail services identified in a regional public transport plan (RPTP).

Work category 554 is available to the public transport infrastructure activity class.

Public transport services and infrastructure

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • new or improved public transport technology, including:
    • electronic ticketing systems
    • real-time information systems
    • on-vehicle systems
    • data and information management
    • business intelligence and reporting systems
    • customer apps and information systems
    • digital solutions to improve effectiveness of public transport
  • signalling upgrades for the efficient operation of bus, rail or ferry services
  • property purchase costs less than $500,000
  • loan (principal and interest) repayments agreed by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

You can discuss with us (NZTA as investor) whether other potential activities not listed above might also be eligible for inclusion in this work category.

Exclusions

Work category 554 excludes:

  • infrastructure provision to cater for public transport services that are not identified in a RPTP.
