Improvements to the intersection of State Highway 20A (SH20A) and Kirkbride Road are expected to be opened to early on Monday morning which will improve travel to, from and around Auckland Airport.
Upcoming planned closures between Peketa and Goose Bay, south of Kaikoura, on State Highway 1, will enable essential work to be completed on the unstable slopes above the road, says Colin Knaggs, Project Delivery Manager for the North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery (NCTIR) alliance.
From early next week, Tuesday, 22 August, drivers will need to watch for 28 metre (bumper to bumper) truck loads moving bridge beams to Kaikoura, via the Lewis Pass and the inland road via Waiau/ Mt Lyford.
