Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises road users the northbound and southbound lanes on State Highway 1 (SH1), around and south of the Hampton Downs interchange (excluding off and on-ramps), will be without expressway lighting from now until November 2022 while work continues on upgrading the state highway.
Due to emergency works on a wastewater pipe, contractors need to this section of State Highway 58 for six to eight hours through afternoon and evening peak traffic today.
With more rain forecast for the top of the South Island this week, Waka Kotahi is urging road users to be alert and be prepared in case road closures occur.
