Important information for drivers.
Lower North Island:
- Regular users of State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill, must plan for two weeks of night closures. These works, which will see new safety improvements installed, begin on 10 March.
- There will be road closures on State Highway 53 near Featherston on Monday and Thursday as repair works continue on the Tauwharenīkau Bridge.
- Monthly maintenance will be carried out on The Terrace Tunnel in the Wellington CBD on Monday through Thursday nights (11-14 March). Closures will run from 9 pm to 5:30 am. Drivers will have to use alternate routes and must allow for longer travel times
Top of the South Island:
- In Nelson, safety barrier works continue on State Highway 6, Whakatu Drive. Night closures are also planned from 17 March.
- Drivers travelling between Richmond and Nelson can expect travel delays and commuter congestion over the coming week. Road works underway on local roads are affecting traffic flows. Please allow extra time for your journeys.
