Coastal hazards and land transport infrastructure guide – seeking feedback

Submissions for this consultation have now closed.

Waka Kotahi is seeking feedback on the draft Coastal hazards and land transport infrastructure guide. This is intended to be a companion guide for the Coastal effects assessment guideline that was released in 2017. This guide is targeted towards ensuring that planning for coastal infrastructure is done in a consistent way and integrated with each stage of the business case process.

The main aims of the guide are to:

  • provide nationally consistent guidance for identifying, assessing and managing coastal hazards effects
  • integrate project life cycle phases with coastal assessments
  • provide easy to understand checklists for new infrastructure, maintenance of existing infrastructure, and emergency responses
  • integrate with other Waka Kotahi resilience and climate change guidance documents.
