Application for RUC rate for a specialist permitted heavy vehicle

Use this application form if you are applying for a special heavy RUC rate for one of the following permitted specialist vehicles:

  • Bus.
  • Concrete mixer. 
  • Rubbish truck. 
  • Groundspreader truck.

To use this rate, you must have a permit issued under Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2016 (see High productivity motor vehicles). This rate will enable you to carry weights up to the maximum weight specified in your permit. 

Please allow up to two working days for your application to be processed. We'll let you know by email or phone when we have made the change an you can purchase your new licence. 

If you still have remaining distance on your old licence, you will be able to purchase RUC from your current hubodometer reading. You will need to purchase enough RUC to take you past the end distance of your current RUC licence and you will pay the difference in fees between the previous rate and the special RUC rate, for the portion of the licence that is overlapped.

*if you have a passenger service vehicle with a specialist vehicle permit, you should apply for heavy RUC vehicle type H01 instead. There is a fee of $14.63.

Collection, dissemination and release of this information is authorised by the Road User Charges Act 2012 and Land Transport Act 1998. Corresponding information held on other parts of the Land Transport Register may be amended.
