Urgent electricity network repairs mean there will be a full closure of part of State Highway 58, Paremata Road, this Friday, 7 April 2023.
The closure will be between the Paremata roundabout and Postgate Drive. It will run from 8 am Friday morning to 11 pm Friday night and has been timed to coincide with lower traffic volumes over the holiday weekend.
The closure will allow Wellington Electricity to carry out urgent repairs to a local substation. Because it involves earthworks to access power infrastructure, the road must be closed for safety reasons.
Local detours will be available, but traffic delays are likely in the area. Residents, public transport and emergency services will have escorted access through the site.
Regular users of State Highway 58 should factor these works and the road closure into their Easter weekend travel plans.
