Traffic control devices manual part 5

Submissions for this consultation is now closed.

The NZ Transport Agency is consulting on the Traffic control devices manual part 5 – traffic control devices for general use – between intersections.

This document provides guidance and best practice for road controlling authorities and traffic management practitioners on the use of traffic control devices, such as signs and road marking, between intersections. Traffic control devices are used to regulate, warn and advise road users on New Zealand’s road network.

In particular, it provides specifications, form, layout and dimensions of traffic control devices which are mandated by legislation, principally Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004.

Please download the feedback form and email your comments to tcdpart5@nzta.govt.nz

The consultation closes at 5pm on Friday, 14 September 2018, after which a final document will be prepared and released.

Questions and answers

  •   Why is the Transport Agency consulting on part 5 of this manual?

The Traffic control devices manual part 5 has been drafted under the guidance of a Traffic Control Devices Steering Group comprising representatives from across the transport sector.

The Transport Agency is now consulting on this draft with other road controlling authorities, traffic and transport practitioners and road user groups for feedback prior to finalising the document.

We are keen to ensure the application of traffic control devices and road markings is fit for purpose and nationally consistent for those using the road network.
