Exemptions (put your vehicle on hold)

You may not have to register your vehicle, pay registration and licensing fees or pay certain levies.

Put your licence (rego) on hold

If you're not going to use your vehicle on the road for at least three months, you can apply for a temporary exemption from the requirement to continually license your vehicle.

Exemption from registration

Some vehicles may be exempt from registration requirements.

Exemption from paying registration and licensing fees (exempt Class A)

While you still have to register and license them, some vehicles are exempt from registration and licensing fees.

Exemption from paying levies (exempt Class B)

Exempt Class B vehicles are exempt from the payment of some levies and charges such as ACC levies and fuel excise and excise equivalent duty
