The way we think about road safety has, and will, continue to evolve as we learn from the experience of others, try new things, and share our stories and successes with others. As a sector we need to commit to continuous learning and adapting as the evidence about what works grows and new Safe System technologies are developed and implemented.

Here you’ll find learning tools and resources that you can use and share with your colleagues. You’ll also be able to see what development opportunities are available.

For more information or questions about the learning opportunities on this page, contact us at VisionZeroLearning@nzta.govt.nz

Safe System Audit virtual course

The Safe System Audit combines both the Safe System Assessment framework and the identification of road safety concerns (using the traditional road safety audit procedures), into a single Safe System audit for use throughout the project development lifecycle.

This program covers the 2022 Austroads Guide to Road Safety Part 6: Road Safety Audit and the new Aotearoa Safe System audit guidelines.

This course is relevant to individuals who wish to become a Safe System Auditor, those required to manage the Safe System Audit process or current Road Safety Auditors that wish to undertake a refresher course.

Waka Kotahi staff can register at no cost as your registration is covered under the Vision Zero learning programme and will automatically be charged back to Waka Kotahi.

For other organisations Waka Kotahi will contribute funding for the majority of the training but there is a small cost to you of $200 AUD.
