Consultation has now closed |
We consulted in several regions around the country between 30 January and 13 March 2025 to find out public support levels for keeping speed limits at specific state highway locations at today’s lowered speeds.
NZTA is required to reverse these locations’ speed limit to their previous speeds by 1 July 2025, unless there is public support to retain them.
We consulted on 6 interregional state highways in the Manawatū-Whanganui region. Consultation includes two sections of State Highway 1 north of Wellington. Owing to proximity, the two stretches of road, Ohau to Manakau and Manakau to Pukehou Bridge were part of the consultation for the Manawatū-Whanganui region. You can read more about these locations in the list below.
NZTA would like to thank people for providing feedback during this consultation process. View the full consultation summary report to understand the consultation outcome and which sections of state highway are being reversed to previous higher speed limits.
