State Highway 1 through Mangamuka Gorge in Northland reopened on Friday 20 December 2024.

It was a massive 22 months of hard work by the amazing crews of workers. We closed SH1 following major slips caused by severe weather in August 2022. Kylie Harris from CLL Service and Solutions, our principal contractor, provides commentary on the challenges and successes of restoring this vital route.
