Puhinui is a bus and rail hub that includes an AirportLink electric bus service, that runs every 10 minutes between 4.30am to 12.40am. The trip takes just 10 to 12 minutes using dedicated bus lanes and costs $2.20 one way.

Open since July 2021, Puhinui also makes it easier to travel throughout Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland. Now people can travel by train and bus from:

  • Britomart to Auckland Airport, via Puhinui, in 45 minutes for $5.40
  • Papakura to Auckland Airport in 30 minutes for $3.90
  • Manukau to Auckland Airport, via Puhinui, in 23 to 25 minutes for $2.20.

Puhinui has been designed with the future in mind with space provided for two additional platforms and a future rapid transit bridge that will make transfers even easier.

Puhinui follows similar upgrades to Ōtāhuhu, Panmure and Manukau stations, which also provided more frequent bus services to the airport.

The improved Puhinui Station is part of the Airport to Botany Rapid Transit project, which forms part of the wider Southwest Gateway Programme.

The Southwest Gateway Programme involves Te Ākitai Waiohua, Waka Kotahi, Auckland Transport, and Auckland International Airport working together to make getting to and from Auckland Airport easier for everyone.

As part of the 2021–24 National Land Transport Programme, more than $3 billion will be invested in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland to make it easier to move around in ways that are healthier and more environmentally friendly.
