Purpose

To seek the Board's approval for funding the construction of NZTA's SH50A Hawkes Bay Expressway Southern Extension between Napier and Hastings.

Resolutions

The NZ Transport Agency Board:

  1. approves funding for the construction of the NZ Transport Agency's SH50A Hawkes Bay Expressway Southern Extension project, at an estimated cost of $12.00 million from R funds;
  2. notes that the 95th percentile construction cost is estimated at $14 million;
  3. notes the reasons for this decision are as set out in the Reasons for recommendation section; and
  4. agrees to take Board paper 09/03/0163 out of Committee when the Board has published the notice of decision.

Reason for the decision

The assessment profile for the activity has been determined as being of medium seriousness and urgency, medium effectiveness and medium efficiency.

This project contributes to LTMA objectives relating to safety and economic development. In reducing crashes and improving travel times and trip reliability. It completes the final stage on the Hawkes Bay Expressway between Napier and Hastings.

We confirm that the matters in sections 20(2) and 20(5) of the LTMA have been satisfied, and that the matters in 20(3) have been taken into account.
