Update on State highway 6 entrance to Queenstown near the Shotover River

|

The new, developer-funded roundabout connecting Shotover Country subdivision to State highway 6 will start to affect Queenstown drivers by the middle of this week (Wednesday 16 September).

Contractor Southroads has been building the new connecting road to the side of the roundabout in recent weeks.  The crew should be fully onto SH6 at Stalker/Lower Shotover Road around the middle of this week to construct the Shotover Country roundabout.

From around Wednesday, SH6 around Stalker and Lower Shotover Roads will be narrowed to two lanes, one each way, with the turning lanes mostly removed. The road will stay like this until the roundabout is in operation just prior to Christmas. Further work on the Queenstown side of the roundabout will be completed following the Christmas/New Year period.

The work up to Christmas will include three stages, with the first stage nearing completion. The following two stages consist of works on the south and north sides of SH6 to form the roundabout. Up until the roundabout is formed and functioning at Christmas the existing Stalker Road will remain in use.
