Two upcoming overnight asphalting works planned for Levin

|

Waka Kotahi is reminding road users through Levin to drive to the conditions, as roading crews get set to resurface two sections of State Highway 1 at night.

SH1 and Hokio Beach Road intersection

This Sunday night (19 November), resurfacing work will start at the intersection of SH1 and Hokio Beach Road in Levin.

These works will take place over three nights. Contractors will be on site, each night from 6pm to 6am from Sunday 19 November – Wednesday 22 November. During the work times, Stop/Go will be in place at the intersection with reduced speeds in place.

Delays of up to 5 minutes are expected. Outside the 6pm to 6am working hours, the road will be open and have a temporary speed limit of 30km/h in place.

SH1 / Oxford Street

A signposted detour will be in place for ten nights from Wednesday (22 November) through to 5 December as another stretch of SH1 through Levin closes for asphalt resurfacing works.

As a result, the following detour will be in place:

  • Southbound traffic will detour down Bath Street to Cambridge Street to Liverpool Rail Crossing before rejoining back to SH1.
  • Northbound traffic will continue through site, with a temporary speed limit in place.

The physical work area is south of Bath Street to just past Durham Street. Outside of the work hours, the state highway will be opened to southbound traffic, with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h in place.

We want to thank motorists for their patience while work is carried out to rebuild this section of road. These works are weather dependent and may be postponed at short notice.

The road resurfacing work currently taking place at the intersection of Queen Street and Oxford Streets is expected to finish ahead of schedule. Please keep up to date with what’s happening on our state highway network via Journey Planner.
