3.54pm. The NZTA advises motorists that the southbound lane of the SH1 Terrace Tunnel has been reopened following a multiple nose-to-tail crash this afternoon, but motorists in both directions should expect significant delays.
Wellington Acting Highways and Network Operations Manager Mark Owen says there will be delays for both northbound and southbound traffic, and motorists are advised to delay their travel or use alternative routes to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
Delays are expected to be more severe for northbound traffic.
Electronic information signs are active across the highway network to keep motorists informed.
