Temporary changes to traffic management on SH3 at Waitara

|

From Wednesday 10 August traffic travelling on SH3 will be switched to run on the northbound lane 400 metres from the Princess Street intersection at Waitara, in order to allow crews to install a new stormwater pipe under the road as part of the Te Ara Tūtohu: SH3 Waitara to Bell Block safety improvement project.

This temporary change will be in place for approximately five days while the pipe installation work is undertaken. Traffic will switch back to the southbound lane for the weekend, then return to the northbound lane on Monday 15 August for approximately 2 days.

Waka Kotahi does not expect the change to result in any additional delays, but motorists are advised to take care comply with temporary signage at all times on the unsealed northbound lane.

Waka Kotahi is also reminding drivers that northbound light vehicles should continue to use the detour through Waitara. Trucks travelling north will continue to use the state highway under stop/go traffic management to avoid safety issues associated with large vehicles travelling through Waitara.

Waka Kotahi thanks everyone for their patience and understanding while this important work is underway to improve the safety of SH3 between Waitara and Bell Block.
