Tauranga Central Corridor public information day postponed

|

Consultation on the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) project to improve the Tauranga Central Corridor from the Maungatapu/Welcome Bay Roundabouts to Cameron Road using Travel Demand Management strategies, is on hold while the project team works to gain a clear understanding of the timing, scope and resources available for further work on the corridor.

NZTA regional manager Kaye Clark says that NZTA is working closely with Government and Tauranga City Council to ensure the best outcome is achieved for the Tauranga Central Corridor, with all parties focussed on improving the capacity of the central city highway in the safest and most effective way.

“Obviously we are keen to progress any works as quickly as possible, but in order to do this we need to have a clear understanding of what is expected and how this fits with NZTA’s long term plans for the highway. We will continue to work closely with Council and will resume consultation with the community once we understand the proposed project fully,” she said.

A public open day, which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday 26 November 2008 at Wesley Church, 100, 13th Avenue, Tauranga from 5pm to 8pm, has been cancelled.
