Tatuanui roundabout opens ahead of schedule

|

The Tatuanui Roundabout at the intersection of SH26/27 is up and running in time for the Christmas break - a month ahead of schedule. The four-leg roundabout between Morrinsville and Te Aroha has taken around six months to build.

Kaye Clark, NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) State Highways Manager, says the roundabout will provide safer, smoother traffic flow through the intersection.

All approaches to the roundabout are now operating at the permanent 70 km/h speed limit, along with appropriate signage alerting motorists and cyclists to the changes.

Although the roundabout is fully operational, Mrs Clark says motorists will need to be cautious and sensible when using the roundabout as minor landscaping work is carried out around it. "There are still some contractors' materials and cones in place while grassing, planting and footpath work is finished off," she says. "Also, work is also well underway on the project's underpass for the nearby school, which should be completed and ready to use by the first week of March."
