Take extra care through roadwork sites on SH2 Waioeka Gorge

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to expect to see a number of roadwork sites through the Waioeka Gorge on State Highway 2 (SH2) next week.

From Monday 17 January, there are 14 sites between Waiata Road and 7km past Wairata Road where chipsealing work will be underway. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Strengthening work at Omaukora Bridge has been underway since Monday 10 January, with work to strengthen Gibson Bridge starting on Monday 17 January.

Motorists are advised to take care when travelling through the worksites and follow any traffic management that may be in place.

The work is weather-dependent. With Cyclone Cody currently forecast to impact New Zealand in the coming days, this work may need to be postponed.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
