Stretch of SH45 in New Plymouth to be resurfaced later this month

|

A stretch of State Highway 45 Vivian Street in New Plymouth will be resurfaced from later this month during a period of overnight closures.

Beginning Sunday 22 September, SH45 Vivian Street will be closed between Gover Street and Morley Street from 7pm to 6am, Sunday to Friday.

Work will not take place on Saturday nights. It is expected to take between 3 and 4 weeks to complete.

During the closure, two separate sites within that same closure will be resurfaced with asphalt to improve the road surface, resilience and ultimately the safety for all road users.

Resurfacing will take place:

  • between Gover and Dawson Streets from Sunday 22 September to Friday 4 October (weather permitting)
  • between Dawson and Morley Streets from Sunday 6 October to Friday 18 October (weather permitting).

Access to and from side-roads adjacent to SH45 Vivian Street will be impacted during the works. There are several alternative routes available, and road users are encouraged to plan their journeys prior to travel.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi wants to thank all road users for their support during this time and is confident night time works will minimise disruption to road users and speed up the time it takes to resurface these sections.

Following this, asphalt repairs will be completed on SH45 Powderham Street between Dawson and Robe Streets. This work will take approximately 3-4 nights to complete under a single lane closure. We will confirm the dates for this work as soon as possible.
