Stretch of SH4 at Upokongaro now open – expect delays

State Highway 4 at Upokongaro is now open to two lanes of traffic following this afternoon’s 2 vehicle crash.

3.30pm update

A stretch of SH4 at the intersection with Makirikiri Valley Road closed just after a crash around 1pm.

The road has now been cleared and both lanes have reopened.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising all road users to expect delays as congestion eases through the area.

3pm update

State Highway 4 at Upokongaro has reopened to one lane and stop/go traffic management is in place.

Emergency services are currently on site at the intersection with Makirikiri Valley Road following a serious 2 vehicle crash around 1pm.

While stop/go traffic management is in place, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising all road users to expect delays, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of emergency service personnel on site.

State Highway 4 at Upokongaro has closed following a serious 2 vehicle crash around 1pm.

Emergency services are currently on site at the intersection with Makirikiri Valley Road and have closed the road until the site is clear.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising all road users to expect delays, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of emergency service personnel on site.
