State Highway 25a in Coromandel is expected to be closed from 11.30am today for around three hours while Police complete a serious crash investigation.
The crash occurred last night.
The NZ Transport Agency says a detour will be in place via State Highway 25 or State Highway 2 but they will both add a significant amount of time to a journey.
The agency says people should avoid the area if they can.
